I have to think there's some USCF course regulation against shyte like that in mass-start races.
With the whole field making it up to this turnaround on the first lap I actually had to put some cyclocross skills to work as I found myself off the road. And I don't even ride cyclocross!!!
Luckily for the most part people were accommodating of others going around this bend since it was a problem for everybody.
