Learned My Lesson

Breaking news (literally)!

Car, meet parking garage. Parking garage say, 'Hi!', to saddle. Saddle, step to the side and defer yourself to the seatpost for a more engaging and thorough introduction to the parking garage. Seatpost, don't bend or break, just ease into the introduction with the garage as the car beneath you moves slowly at 3mph and the bike rack rips off from the top of my car...

More news at 11...

Ouch. I hope that wasn't the new bike...

Don't feel bad - you're in good company. I bashed my mountain bike (and roof rack) not once...but twice. Darn parking garages.

Nope it wasn't the new bike, but the saddle and seatpost from the old bike are toast. Luckily I have enough spare equipment lying around that I had it fixed and ready to roll for my commute to work this morning. Hopefully everything else will work fine as I roll away from the house...

Definitely could empathize with you on that..

Are gearing up for the season?

I want to see some epic race reports.

Oh man....

That one just rips at the gut. I have not had to worry about that since getting my Element. But when I was using the roof rack system, I recall a story a guy told me that was always in my mind. A guy warned me at the place I used to live. his was a bit worse, he ended up making a compressed dent on the top of his new BMW when he forgot about the bike. I hope the damage is limited.

On the car there's just a little paint on the roof near the rear window that got scraped, but the normal touch-up paint I have should do the trick.
